Pioneering the natural gas industry in Qatar, Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) – Qatar’s first and premier LNG Company – was established on 1 November 1984 to own and operate a world-class onshore LNG plant utilising natural gas from Qatar’s North Field, and to market and export LNG and associated products worldwide. Watch Qatargas latest corporate video which was released mid-2013 to learn more about our journey.
This is the latest documentary on Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC), the base for all onshore operations to support the development and utilization of Qatar's North Field gas assets. Located 80 kilometres northeast of Doha, RLC commenced operations in 1996 and has evolved since then into a world-class industrial city, facilitating the needs of the most technologically sophisticated natural gas-based industries. RLC provides industries with land, roads and common corridors for pipelines, and other utilities' structures. The Port of Ras Laffan, which is the largest LNG export facility in the world, facilitates the marine export of all the hydrocarbons and sulphur produced by industries, the import of general cargo, and the support of offshore production operations in the North Field.
Entitled "Treasures of Qatar," Qatar Petroleum's latest corporate video traces the corporation's history and the State of Qatar's rapid development over the years. Using a combination of animations, aerial shots, old footage, graphics and other special effects, the video tells an engaging story of how the sustainable utilization of the country's oil and gas resources is fuelling the continued development of the State of Qatar while helping meet the world's rising energy requirements.
Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC) is located approximately 40 kilometres south of Doha. As an integrated industrial city in the State of Qatar, the major focus of MIC is on the development of industrial projects in the fields of petrochemicals, chemical fertilizers, oil refining, natural gas derivatives and metallurgical industries, as well as supporting numerous small and medium-sized industries. This documentary provides an overview of MIC's operations, the range of industries located in the area, and the modern facilities provided to all residents.
June 21, 2002 His Excellency Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah addresses Qatar''s role in the gas and petroleum industry. Al-Attiyah serves as the Minister of Energy and Industry for the State of Qatar and as its representative in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). He also holds the position of Chairman of Qatar Petroleum. Qatar contains the third largest natural gas reserves and the largest non-associated gas field in the world. Qatar is also emerging as a major exporter of liquefied natural gas. An OPEC member, Qatar currently exports over 745,000 barrels of oil per day.
Qatar Petroleum's Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC) has been one of the driving forces behind the success of the State of Qatar in providing world-class infrastructure, facilities and services to leading natural gas-based industries. Today, RLC is considered as the global clean energy hub, being the world's largest producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and gas-to-liquids (GTL) products. Shell’s gas to liquids (GTL) technology converts natural gas – the cleanest-burning fossil fuel – into high-quality liquid products that would otherwise be made from crude oil. These products include transportation fuels, motor oils and the ingredients for everyday necessities like plastics, detergents and cosmetics. GTL products are colourless and odourless. They contain almost none of the impurities – sulphur, aromatics and nitrogen – that are found in crude oil. Visit http://www.shell.com/gtl for more information. Qatargas offers its future employees a unique opportunity to be involved in making history happen. There are a wide variety of roles available in both the development projects as well as the permanent operating organization.
Al Shaheen is Qatar’s largest offshore oilfield and is considered to be one of the world’s most complex carbonate fields of its type. Initially deemed marginal and uneconomic, watch how Maersk Oil and Qatar Petroleum have unlocked the potential of this precious national resource which now produces over one-third of Qatar’s daily oil production. http://blog.maerskoil.com/post/120023826998/unlocking-the-potential-of-complex-fields-al#.VWXZBlyqqko You can also find Maersk Oil here: http://www.maerskoil.com http://www.mymaerskoil.com/ http://maerskoilsolutions.com http://blog.maerskoil.com/ Or connect with us on the following social channels: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/maersk-oil Twitter: https://twitter.com/maerskoil Facebook: https://twitter.com/maerskoil

The real reason behind the diplomatic fallout of the Gulf states with Qatar may be far simpler then the official narrative, and once again has to do with a long-running and controversial topic, namely Qatar's regional natural gas dominance and a pipeline. Qatar has already established itself as the No.1 exporter of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in 2007 with exports reaching 31 million tons that year. Qatar is also well on its way to achieve its target to reach 77 million tons per year of LNG exports by 2011 as new trains are brought into production. LNG is produced by the two major Qatar Petroleum (QP) Joint Venture industries; Qatargas and RasGas who are based in the Ras Laffan Industrial City situated in the north east coast of Qatar.
